An automotive drive system has a piston engine with a crankshaft linked by a clutch (20) to a transmission shaft. The clutch system incorporates two or more flywheels which may rotate with respect to each other. One flywheel has a primary flange which is permanently fixed to the crankshaft. The clutch system incorporates an electrically operated unit (5) with a rotor (7) and rotor support (11) forming part of the primary flange (21).
