<p>Stainless steel tubing is manufactured from welded blanks by reciprocating rolling. Prior to this a layer of 0.2 mm thickness is removed from the outside of the weld area. Then a heat treatment at 1070 - 1100 degrees C for >=15 mins in the case of type 1.454 steel is applied. This is followed by heating to =300 degrees C in a roll street where a size reduction of >=50% is effected. This reduction range excludes any danger of the formation of interior faults at the weld-seam/base material interface. The process yield tubing of uniform cross sectional structure and mechanical properties.</p> |
