In the microscope (10) the object (14), the objective (16) and the sensor (26) are arranged so that desired focus changes are achieved by moving the object transversely w.r.t. the optical axis of the objective. The sensor can be mounted offset in relation to the optical axis of the objective allowing focus changes to be made by lateral movement of the objective. A light source (12) illuminates the object which is imaged by a digital image sensor (26) which creates an electronic image for storing in a memory (40) The objective images the object by the intermediary of a beam splitter (18) and an ocular (20) on the retina of the user's eye. The object is moved by an x-y mechanism (36). |
