PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having excellent cycle discharge and charge characteristic, capable of securing safety, even when excess current occurs due to external shortage, etc., by cutting off current so that the battery does not explode or ignite, especially suited to be used to drive a motor of an electric vehicle, etc. SOLUTION: A lithium secondary battery comprises: an internal electrode body 1 wherein a positive electrode plate 2 and a negative electrode plate 3 are rolled or laminated with an intermediate of a separator 4 so that the positive electrode plate 2 and the negative electrode plate 3 do not contact with each other; and an organic electrolyte. A total cross-section of tabs 5 is specified to be a constant area or more according to a material used for the tab 5 so that at least a plurality of tab 5 for collecting current which are connected to each of positive and negative electrode plates 2 and 3 are not melted to cut off when at least 100 A current carried through the lithium secondary battery. |
