Flame-resistant polyolefine composns - contg nuclear-brominated diphenyls and highly chlorinated cpds as flame-retardants

Flame-resistant polyolefin (e.g. HDPE, LDPE, polypropylene) compsns. contain diphenyls which have >=5 Br-substs. in the nucleus, (e.g. octadibromodiphenyl) and highly-chlorinated macromolecular org. cpds. (e.g. chloroparaffin or post-chlorinated PVC contg. 70 wt.% Cl) in amts. such that the Br-content is 5.0 - 12.0 wt.%, and the Cl-content is 1.25 - 5.0 wt.%. 5-15 wt.% Sb2O3 are also present in the compsns. The disclosed additive combination has flame-retardant action even at relatively low combustion temps. i.e. in event of smouldering (as distinct from flaring) fires.
