PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alumina-spinel monolithic refractory material whose preceding melting loss can be inhibited in the lining for a vacuum vessel of a vacuum degasifier. SOLUTION: This refractory material consists of a mix composition such that an alumina raw material and an Al2 O3 .MgO based spinel raw material are used as refractory aggregate in the mix composition and TiO2 is used as a component of the mix composition in a 0.1 to 2 wt.% ratio to the total weight of the mix composition, and construction work using the refractory material is executed by casting it. Since the refractory material contains this TiO2 component, the Al2 O3 component and the TiO2 component are reacted with each other under high temp. use conditions to form aluminum titanate (Al2 O3 .TiO2 ). Since the aluminum titanate is a substance having a lower melting point as compared with the alumina raw material and spinel raw material, the refractory structure of the refractory material is densified. Thus, the refractory material is capable of preventing air flow liable to cause preceding melting loss from passing through the material, in the lining for a vacuum vessel of a vacuum degasifier. |
