PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly forcast an optimum intake air quantity in an internal combustion engine injecting fuel at least in an intake stroke and a compression stroke. SOLUTION: When an exhaust stroke adopts A/N(n-2) caused by a signal of the air flow sensor of a 545 deg. BTDC, which becomes the starting timing of fuel injection, A/N(n) is forcasted by doubling the differenceΔA/N3 between an A/N(n-3) caused by a signal of the air flow sensor of one stroke before of the A/N(n-2) and the A/N(n-2) and adding or substracting it to or from the A/N(n-2), when an intake stroke adopts A/N(n-1) caused by a signal of the air flow sensor of a 365 deg. BTDC, which becomes the starting timing of fuel injection, A/N(n) is forcasted by adding or subtracting to or from the A/N(n-1) the differenceΔA/N2 from the A/N(n-2), and when a compression stroke adopts A/N(n) caused by a signal of the air flow sensor of 185 deg. BTDC, which becomes the starting timing of fuel injection, A/N(n) itself is defined as the intake air quantity A/NQ, thus makes it possible to constantly forcast optimum intake air quantity.
