Device (100) for rotating an elevator motor during an emergency situation, such as a power failure, comprising a d.c. supply (4) and a rotary switch (8) used as a switching device for supplying a d.c. voltage into the windings (R-S, R-T, S-T) of the elevator motor (1). The d.c. voltage (DCC+, DCC-) controlled by the rotary switch is fed by turns into each winding (R-S, R-T, S-T).
