Dispersed impurities, e.g. metal soaps, fats, fat- and protein-decompsn. prods., are separated, opt. continuously, from glycerin water mixts., e.g. obtd. by fat decompsn., by mixing aq. soln. contg. 5-90 (35-50)% glycerin with 5-200 (10-300)% water-insoluble solvent (I) at 40-150 (70-100) degrees C and separating the impurity-contg. solvent layer. Glycerin water obtd. can be worked up by distn. or ion exchange and concentrated to glycerin for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, dynamite. Process is economical and introduces no additional foreign salts.
|
