PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the probability of an incorrect report in a portable telephone set having an emergency transmission button. SOLUTION: When an emergency button is depressed (104) and the mode of a portable telephone set is converted into an emergency transmission mode (106), candidates for emergency transmission destinations and button symbols and names corresponding to the candidates are displayed on a screen (108) and an emergency transmission destination corresponding to a depressed button is called (120, 128). It is also available to select an emergency transmission destination by scrolling operation as substitution for the display of button symbols or names.
