PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability and reliability of a flow amount controlling solenoid valve having a variable throttle mechanism adapted to a variable discharge amount high pressure pump by resolving the problems of abrasion of a seal edge of a valve body and biting into a seat surface. SOLUTION: In this pump, a plunger 21 is reciprocated in a cylinder by lifting an inner cam 3. Low pressure fuel is introduced into a pressure chamber 23 defined by an inner wall surface of the cylinder 2 and an end face of the plunger 21, from an oil reservoir 52, a flow amount controlling solenoid valve 6, and a check valve 4, and pressurized therein. The flow amount controlling solenoid valve 6 which varies a lifting rate of a valve element according to current carrying amount to a coil and varies a flow passage sectional area, has a passage interruption part 7A for controlling communication and discommunication between the passages, and a passage area adjusting part 7B for adjusting the passage area. Abrasion and biting at a seat edge are prevented by inreasing a tilting angle of a tapered surface of the passage interruption part 7A. Controllability is improved by reducing a tilting angle of a tapered surface of the passage area adjusting part 7B. |
