PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily evade the generation of wrinkles in a coiler for metallic foils. SOLUTION: A wrinkle smoothing roll 3a is fixed to a truck 3d which is moved in the vertical direction to the locus of movement of a piston 3b through a cylinder 3c for extending and contracting the piston 3b in the straight direction and they are arranged in a movable position along the longitudinal direction of a steel sheet S on the plane on which the wrinkle smoothing roll 3a is orthogonally crossed with the rotary shaft of a tension reel 2. In a controller 10, the target winding angleθ* of the steel sheet S on the wrinkle smoothing roll 3a at which the generation of the wrinkles is evadable is calculated based on the thickness (t) and width L of the steel sheet S and the position of the wrinkle smoothing roll 3a is adjusted by driving the cylinder 3c and truck 3d so that this angle is made to coincide with an actual winding angleΘwhich is calculated from the stroke of the piston 3b, the travel length of the truck 3d or the like. Because the position of the wrinkle smoothing roll 3a is automatically adjusted corresponding to the change in the diameter of a coil or the like during coiling, the generation of the wrinkles is easily evaded without troubling operators.
