PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair cosmetic composition of a low-viscosity clear solution, and good spray aesthetics, and having improved moisture resistance and good fixative properties by including a specific starch, a propellant, a solvent and water. SOLUTION: The objective composition comprises (A) a nonionically derivatized starch in a fixative effective amount, preferably in the amount of about 0.5-15 wt.%, more preferably of about 2-10 wt.%, (B) a propellant in the amount of about 5-55 wt.%, preferably of about 5-40 wt.%, (C) a solvent in the amount of about 5-35 wt.%, and (D) water of the remainder. The starch is previously nonionically derivatized by using an ester or an ether compatible with the system, especially the components B and C. An alkylene oxide is preferably used as a nonionizing reagent, and specifically propylene oxide is preferable. Preferably, the starch is at least partially gelatinized. The starch is preferably further ionically modified either anionically, cationically or zwitterionically. |
