PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new monoclonal antibody consisting of monoclonal antibody 1C7 capable of specifically recognizing the extracellular region of mouse activin receptor type I and capable of discriminatively detecting activin receptor subclasses. SOLUTION: This monoclonal antibody is new monoclonal antibody 1C7, a fragment thereof or a chemically modified form thereof, being useful as e.g. a reagent for discriminatively detecting activin receptor subclasses. This monoclonal antibody is obtained by the following procedure: a rat is immunized by subcutaneous administration of activin receptor type I as immunogen in the form of an emulsion of Freund's complete adjuvant, splenocytes are collected from the immunized rat and then subjected to cell fusion with myeloma cells by conventional means, the resulting antibody-productive strain is screened, the positive strain thus obtained is cloned, and the resultant hybridoma is cultured. |
