PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a BCC-type hydrogen storage alloy which is produced with cost advantage by using a ferro-alloy, and exhibits an excellent hydrogen storage discharging property by forming a fine structure by the spinodal decomposition even in the case that the iron component is increased. SOLUTION: The composition of a hydrogen storage alloy is expressed by the formula Ax Vay Zz , wherein A is one or both of Ti and Zr; Va is one or two or more elements selected from V, Nb, Ta of group Va of the Periodic Table; B contains at least Fe and further contains one or two or more elements selected from the group of Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Al, Mo and W; (x), (y) and (z) are in atomic ratio and given by the following formulas: 0<=(x)<=70, 0<=(y)<=50, (x)+(y)+(z)=100, (x)/(z)=0.25-2.0. The hydrogen storage alloy contains a phase comprising the cubic body-centered structure in a phase fraction of >=50% and has a lattice constant of 0.2950-0.3100 nm.
