Moisture content analysis by flooding helps reduce the amount of time required to determine the moisture content of a sample of a moist substance. The moisture content of a sample of a moist substance is analyzed by flooding (202, 208; 804, 812, 818) the moist sample in a fluid and determining (210, 212; 816, 826) the mass and volume of the moist sample. The mass of moisture in the sample is then determined (214; 828) based on the density of fluid in the moist sample and the true density of solid substance in the moist sample, and the moisture content by mass is then determined (216; 830) based on the mass of moisture in the sample and the total mass of the moist sample. Moisture content analysis by flooding may be used to better improve process controls for any suitable processing of a substance being analyzed, such as the processing of iron ore (101) in an iron ore pelletizing system (100) for example. |
