An electronic article information system for shops, comprising a number of article information modules which during operation are arranged close to articles placed in the shop on shelves in racks, in addition to communication means for at least transmitting to the article information modules information to be displayed by the article information modules, wherein the article information modules comprise an elongate screen which is built up of substantially freely programmable pixels and which has a length which substantially corresponds with the length of the shelves, so that information is provided in clear manner and a greater programming freedom is provided.
