<p>For inhibiting the expression of a gene or a group of homologous genes present in the genome of an organism, a nucleotide sequence is introduced in the organism, which nucleotide sequence has the configuration A - interrupt - B. A and B, which may be the same or different, are selected from the group consisting of the gene to be inhibited or one of the homologous genes, any part thereof comprising at least 30 bp, and any homologue thereof. 'Interrupt ' is a random nucleotide sequence which may comprise any nucleotide sequence, e.g. a gene or a selection marker. The transcription directions of A and B may be the same or opposite.</p> |
