PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive control method, for a stepping motor, which prevents vertical stripes and enhances the sharpness in printing image and also prevents vibration and driving sound of the motor. SOLUTION: In a drive control method for a stepping motor which drives a printing head, the drive control operation of the stepping motor is changed over in such a way that a W1-2-phase driving operation is performed when the stepping motor is accelerated and decelerated and that a 1-2-phase driving operation is performed when the stepping motor is at a constant speed. For example, at the constant speed, an output current value OUT1 and an output current value OUT2 are changed over from 0% to 100% (or -100%) when a current is supplied to respective phase coils. Even when the current to the respective phase coils is stopped, the 1-2-phase driving operation in which the output current values OUT1, OUT2 are changed over from to 0% from 100%. |
