The use of copolymer as dispersion and/or crushing agent for mineral substances in aqueous suspension regardless the hydrophilic or hydrophobic properties of the mineral substance is claimed. The copolymer comprises: (a) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a carboxylic function selected from monoacids to which diacids can be optionally added or alternatively acid anhydrides and diacid hemiesters; (b) optionally at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a sulphonic group or a phosphoric group; (c) optionally at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer without a carboxylic and (d) at least one ethylenically unsaturated oxyalkylated monomer with terminal hydrophobic chain as defined in the specification with a total of (a)+(b)+(c)+(d) = 100 and a specific viscosity or less than or equal to 50 is claimed.
