The method consists of taking the cages (10) upside down one at a time from a stack in a magazine (2) made from vertical guide rods (20), using a reversible and reciprocating two-ended holder (4). The holder is then turned over to fit the cage the right way up over a bottle cork (50), and its rim wire is twisted to tension it and hold the cage in place.
