PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens for a digital camera which is composed of two groups of lenses so as to suitably realize compaction, by which the light quantity and the resolution of all the screen can be enhanced in all the area of zooming and whose zoom ratio is about 2.5. SOLUTION: This zoom lens is constituted to perform zooming by mutually moving a 1st lens group 10 having negative refractive power and a 2nd lens group 20 having positive refractive power. The 5th lens 25 of the 2nd lens group 20 is made an aspherical lens, and the focal distance f1 of the 1st lens group 10 and the focal distance f2 of the 2nd lens group 20 satisfy conditions; 12<=|f1|<=13, 11.5<=f2 <=12.5 and 1.0<=|f1|/f2 <=1.1.
