A device for deadening a noise caused by a snorer has a device provided which can be activated, and moves a sound-absorbing carpet (12) between the active snorer and a further bed occupant. The device contains a roller (11) that can be activated electrically, upon which the carpet is rolled in a basic state. The device is located above a double bed (20) and the carpet is movable in the direction of the bed until its lower edge lies on the bed. A sensor is provided which measures the noise level in the spatial area around the snorer, and with a specified noise level being exceeded, activates the device in order to lower the carpet.
