Dental root canal instruments comprise a top part and an associated instrument part, in which the instrument part is coated over at least part of its length with a wear-resistant coating. An Independent claim is included for the materials used for the wear-resistant coating which are selected from carbon and carbon compounds; Ti, Ti nitride and Ti compounds; Si and Si compounds; silicones and silicone compounds; Ti-Al nitride; amorphous boron carbide; and Cr and its compounds. The tool base is made e.g. of stainless steel, Ni-Ti alloy or other special alloy. |
