Loading of a transport container

In the loading of a transport container (16), a storage container (4) is filled with at least fuel element (12) from a water container (LW). The transport container (16) is carried in a container cell (2) which is filled with clean water (W) and separated using a sluiceway (10) from storage container (4). A loading pipe (20) on top of the transport container (16) has a side opening (22). The sluiceway (10) is opened near to the opening (22). The transport container (16) holding the fuel element (12) from the storage container (4) is tipped during transportation using the side opening (22). The sluiceway (10) is closed and the water in the loading pipe (20) is purified or exchanged. An Independent claim is included for loading apparatus.
