The fuel cell system comprises a reformer unit (18) for generating hydrogen from an energy carrier, especially a liquid material (28), under supply of air for operating a coupled fuel cell unit (10). An oxidation arrangement (34) is arranged between reformer unit and fuel cell unit for converting carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide.
