CRYSTALLIZATION OF EPSILON-HEXANITROHEXAAZAISOWURZITANE USING SEED CRYSTAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a thermodynamically stableε- hexanitrohexaazaisowurzitane (HNIW) having a high density in a short time in a high yield. SOLUTION: This process for the production ofε- hexanitrohexaazaisowurzitane comprises the dissolution of HNIW in a mixture of a good solvent and a poor solvent, addition ofε-hexanitrohexaazaisowurzitane as a seed crystal and the evaporation of the good solvent to precipitate the crystal. The amount ofε-hexanitrohexaazaisowurzitane to be added as the seed crystal is 0.1-10%.
