PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an alkylene oxide addition product accompanied by a small amount of by-product in the reaction products, and to eliminate an operation for separating the reaction products from a catalyst after the reaction by using a molded catalyst. SOLUTION: An alkylene oxide addition catalyst consists of a multiple oxide consisting of at least one kind of divalent metal M<2+> selected from Zn<2+> , Ca<2+> , and Ba<2+> , and Al<3+> , and having an atom ratio M<2+> /Al<3+> of 1.5-2.8. In the presence of this catalyst, an active hydrogen-containing organic compound is reacted with an alkylene oxide to obtain an alkylene oxide addition product. |
