<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and inexpensively decompose am waste fluorocarbon gas using a steelmaking electric furnace. SOLUTION: This treating method is by introducing a gaseous mixture of the fluorocarbon gas with a decomposing material consisting of water (H2 O) or the like into the steelmaking electric furnace and decomposing the fluorocarbon gas in a high temp. atmosphere fold by an arc 12 in steelmaking to turn to carbon dioxide (CO2 ), hydrogen chloride (HCl) and hydrogen fluoride (HF). The decomposed gas is cooled, neutralized with sodium hydroxide and precipitated and separated as calcium fluoride (CaF2 ) by adding slaked lime (Ca(OH)2 ).</p> |
