PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain easily a transparent film having a low refractive index and photocataly tic effect by incorporating silica particles with their surfaces coated with titanium oxide having a photocatalytic effect, and also silica as a binder for silica particles. SOLUTION: When a transparent film having low refractive index and photocatalytic effect is manufactured, a transparent film-forming coating material containing silica particles with their surface coated with titanium oxide having photocatalyst effect and either one of silica alcoxide or polysiloxane as a binder for silica particles is applied on the surface and dried. In this case, a conductive layer composed of ITO or ATO is made a substrate layer, and the above transparent film is formed on the substrate layer to provide combinedly antistatic function, antireflection function and the like. The transparent film to be formed has voids of nanometer order in the film so that the refractive index of the film is made 1.5 times or less, thereby the refractive index of the film is made low to improve the antireflection function. |
