PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure high stability under weathering conditions and to impart very good surface characteristics by coating a mineral molding with a 1st preparation contg. a binder copolymer and an inorg. pigment and then coating the coated molding with a 2nd preparation contg. a binder copolymer and, if desired, an inorg. pigment. SOLUTION: The above preparations are thin film forming aq. preparations. The above copolymers P1, P2 consist of monomers A, B and, if desired, a monomer C. The monomer A is a vinyl arom. compd. A1 and/or a 1-C alkanol methacrylic ester A2. The monomer B is an ester of anα,β-ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid having a 1-12C alkanol and different from the ester A2 and/or a vinyl ester of an aliphatic carboxylic acid. The monomer C is anα,β- ethylenically unsatd. monomer other than the monomers A, B. The volume concn. of the pigment in the 1st preparation is higher than that in the 2nd preparation by at least 10. The glass transition temp. of the copolymers is in the range of -25 to +80 deg.C.
