PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an optical fiber, and improve efficiency and quality of laser processing by automatically controlling the incident (projection) power of a laser light against the optical fiber by means of a device without giving efforts or loads to a user. SOLUTION: In this monitoring process, a laser output measured value, a lamp voltage measured value, a lamp current measured value and the like are first captured (F1 ), and the energy per pulse is obtained (F2 ). A laser output average value PM or a lamp power average value QM is obtained on the basis of the cumulative value of the energy per pulse at a constant time Ta interval (F4 ). Then, the obtained laser output average value PM or lamp power average value QM are compared with a setting upper limit value PN or QN. When the result of this comparison becomes PM>PN or QM>QN, it is judged to be 'abnormal', that is dangerous because the laser output average value or the lamp power average value per unit time at that point is too strong for the optical fiber in use. In this case, a laser oscillating action is stopped (F7 ), and an error message is displayed (F8 ).
|
