The console shelf bracket comprises a metal angle member wherein one arm (17) is to be fastened vertically against the wall whilst the other arm (12) which is to support the shelf (14) and extends away from the wall engages in a sliding seat in the hollow arm (13) of an angled plastics component (15) which covers the metal parts. The other arm (16) of the plastics component (15) is a cap to fit on the wall arm (17) of the metal angle so that it lies flush with the face of the metal arm (17) facing the wall (11). In this way any suitable fastening means can be used to fix the metal angle to the wall since the plastics cover is not fitted on until afterwards. The metal arm extending away from the wall is preferably shorter than its encasing plastics arm.
