An illumination or signaling device for a car has a light source that can work together with a reflector (20) in order to generate a concentrated spot of light at a given place, an opaque element (30) that is located near the given place and can form the spot of light, plus an optical element (40,50) that can work together with the so-shaped spot of light so as to form a bundle of illumination or signaling light. A surface (32) of the opaque element facing the optical element is colored. The opaque element is an imaging screen which can shape the spot of light corresponding to a specified light-dark boundary of the light bundle.
