A two speed drive for the blower for an IC engine has two parallel belt drives (4,21) with the main pulley (5) with a freewheel which is effective when a solenoid control (24) selects the second belt drive (21) for a higher speed. In this mode the freewheel effectively disengages the first belt drive. The two belt drives power a drive shaft (7) which links into the fluid clutch. A second solenoid (18) operates on the fluid clutch via a permanent magnet (17) attached to the control element of the clutch.
