A feed screw device which comprises a fixing member, a feed screw shaft rotatably supported on the fixing member, a nut fastened to the feed screw shaft and, secured to the nut, a member to be fed, and wherein a force is transmitted from the fixing member through the feed screw shaft and the nut, said device being provided with an elastic member which is elastically deformable in the axial direction in a portion through which the force of the feed screw shaft passes. An actually acting force can be detected from the elastic deformation value of this elastic member. Furthermore, a displacement producing means is disposed in parallel with the elastic member to form an axially extendable portion, whereby a precise minute displacement can be produced through the elastic deformation of the elastic member. Furthermore, a pre-load to be applied to the balls of the nut can be adjusted through the utilization of this axially extendable portion. <IMAGE> |
