TRANSGENIC PLANT-DERIVED HUMAN BLOOD COAGULATION FACTORS

A composition is provided for transgenic plants and transgenic plant derived human coagulation factors capable of eliciting an activation response in hum an blood clotting pathways and therefore useful for the treatment of human bein gs diagnosed to be deficient in blood clotting factor proteins. Such proteins m ay be manufactured by methods resulting in viral free production using both who le plants and plant cell cultures. Also provided are expression vectors for the proper transformation of plant tissue for the production of such factors, as well as transformed plant cells and processes for producing human coagulatio n factors using plant molecular biology techniques.
