A cable is secured to the handle (3) which converts rotation of the handle into a longitudinal motion in an associated longitudinal guideway (5) against a force of at least one spring. The guideway can be secured e.g. on the bicycle handle bar (1) and serves as a stop for the handle. The cable fastening point (6) on the handle moves round the handle, on its actuation, on a circular path round the handle axis of rotation such that the cable forms a helix on the handle bar, on a lining sleeve (4) between the guideway outlet aperture (7) and the fastening point.
