The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with a combustion chamber (2,202) where fuel is combusted in an explosion cycle and a pump chamber connected thereto. Said pump chamber can be filled with fluid via an inlet. The pump fluid can be ejected from the chamber using the combustion gas formed during the explosion cycle. The pump chamber (1,201) is subdivided into a gas area (30, 230) and a fluid area (31,231) by means of a flexible diaphragm (3,203). In another embodiment of the combustion engine, a circuit is provided for the pump fluid and a turbine (134,260) driven by the pump fluid is arranged therein. An intermediate storage facility (130,280) is also provided and connected to the exit of the turbine (149, 265, 266). The intermediate storage facility (130,280) can be filled with liquid during the explosion cycle and can be emptied during the implosion cycle. |
