A joint surface replacement for finger and toe joints, which is anchored in the adjacent bones, comprises a spherical shell member made of a bio-ceramic, with a penetrating bore for self tapping screws. The main shell member (4) consists of a 180 degree section and the hollow section fits precisely on the bone. The smaller section (5) extends over 60-90 degrees and has a curved section which fits precisely over the bone.
