A tamponade for stopping blood flow and/or the antiseptic treatment of wounds, esp. for use in hollow areas during nasal surgery, comprises a longitudinal member made of foam, and a surrounding coating made of a closed layer material. The coating (23) is flat on the base member (22). The base member is pref. a polymer, especially polyurethane.
