SPRING RETAINER ASSEMBLY

A longitudinally extending spring retainer (14a, 16a) comprising a band of coil springs (13) and a continuous piece of fabric adapted to hold the band of coil springs (13). The band of coil springs (13) is made of a single length of wire shaped to form a plurality of coil springs (13) arranged in a row (12) each of the coil springs (13) having an upper and lower end turn (38, 40). The upper and lower end turns (38, 40) of the coil springs are held in receptacles (32, 34) created in top and bottom portions (14a, 16a) of a continuous piece of fabric. The fabric is folded upon itself and secured together with connections (26, 28a, 26d, 28b, 27) in order to hold the end turns (38, 40) in place.
