PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sintered compact in which Cr2 O3 and Al2 O3 are homogeneously converted into a solid solution even in an inexpensive material and to produce a sintered compact obtained by the method. SOLUTION: A mixture of a Cr2 O3 powder with an Al2 O3 powder substantially respectively having <=0.5 μm average particle diameter or a mixed powder prepared by mixing the mixed powder with 1.5-15 wt.% of a TiO2 powder substantially having <=0.5 μm average particle diameter is sintered at 1,350-1,600 deg.C temperature in a vacuum atmosphere under 10<-20> to 10<-5> atm to produce a sintered compact having >=95% relative density in which the Cr2 O3 and Al2 O3 are sufficiently converted into a solid solution. |
