MOVING-IMAGE DATA REPRODUCING DEVICE AND REVERSE REPRODUCTION METHOD FOR MOVING-IMAGE DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a reproduction speed regardless of an image memory with a small capacity by providing a stream temporary storage means that stores temporarily a read bit stream and a core picture storage means that stores a core picture in a group of picture(GOP) to the device. SOLUTION: A stream temporary storage memory is a memory whose maximum capacity is about 5 Mbits to temporarily store data read from a stream supply source 1 by a minimum of 1 GOP and data required at reverse reproduction are read therefrom. A core picture memory 5 stores the number of core pictures in a GOP known in advance and a core picture of a GOP obtained by calculation from the memory capacity, and the picture is displayed or an MPEG decoder 3 references the picture when it is required for decoding and displaying at reverse reproduction. Thus, an address of the core picture to be stored is changed depending on the capacity of the core picture memory in use and on the number of the core pictures to be stored.
