PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the limit of a tire slip angle according to the condition of a road surface traveled and to correct steering control or issue a warning according to the result of determination. SOLUTION: This steering device controls the amount of turning of a steering tire according to the amount of steering control achieved by a steering wheel SW. In this case, the steering device uses a tire slip angle computing means TS to compute the tire slip angle of the steering tire according to the result of detection of the running condition of the vehicle, uses a road surface condition determination means RC to determine the condition of a road surface traveled, and uses a limit determining means TL to determine the limit of the tire slip angle on the basis of the result of determination and the result of computation by the tire slip angle computing means TS. When the steering tire exceeds the limit of the tire slip angle determined by the limit determining means TL, the amount of turning of the steering tire is reduced by the steering control means SC or a warning device WR is actuated. |
