PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with high luminance. SOLUTION: This display device is enabled to irradiate a display element with illumination light having a proper angle distribution from a light-emitting surface by forming dots consisting of small recessed parts for varying the light from a light transmission plate incidence surface to a specific angle to a light transmission surface direction on a light transmission plate 2 and properly controlling the arrangement, size, and sectional tilt angle of the dots. Further, a diffusion sheet, a cholesteric liquid crystal film, and a 1/4-phase plate can be combined when necessary.
