摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide microparticles which can give a dispersion which does not become viscous even in a high concentration and has excellent stability and redispersibility and a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: There are provided microparticles each of which is composed of an inorganic microparticle or an organic/inorganic composite microparticle and a silane organic polymeric coupling agent bonded to the surface of the microparticle, wherein the surface density of the silane organic polymeric coupling agent is desirably 3.0×10<-8> to 5.0×10<-6> mol/m<2> . To produce these microparticles, a silane organic polymeric coupling agent is dissolved in a lowly polar organic solvent, and the solution is added and reacted by heating in such an amount that inorganic microparticles or organic/inorganic composite microparticles having functional groups in a surface density of 3.0×10<-6> to 1.3×10<-5> mol/m<2> on the surface of each particle are present in a concentration of 0.1-5 wt.%.
