PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulated electric wire, having high flame retardancy, having excellent mechanical characteristics and heat resistance, capable of being colored arbitrarily, not whitened if folded or wound, and causing neither elution of heavy-metal compounds nor generation of large amounts of smoke and corrosive gases when disposed such as by land filling or incineration. SOLUTION: This insulated electric wire has a primary coating layer 2 made of a flame retardant resin composition provided around a conductor 1 and a secondary coating layer 3 made of a flame retardant resin composition provided around the primary coating layer 2. The primary coating layer 2 is formed from a resin composition made by blending a metal hydrate of 80 to 140 pts.wt. and red phosphorus of 2.5 to 14.5 pts.wt. with a polyolefine resin of 100 pts.wt., and the secondary coating layer 3 is formed from a flame retardant resin composition made by blending an ammonium polyphosphate flame retarder of 20 to 80 pts.wt. with a specific vinyl aromatic thermoplastic elastomer resin composition of 100 pts.wt. |
