<p>NEW MATERIAL:A compound (salt) of formula I (R1-R3 are H or protecting groups eliminative in the living body). EXAMPLE:6-beta-[4-( 2'-Amino-2'-carboxy )-ethylimidazol-2-yl-thiacetamido]penicillanic acid of formula II. USE:An antimicrobial agent, administered orally, and having improved absorbability in intestinal tracts. PROCESS:A compound of formula III, e.g. 6-beta-bromoacetamidopenicillanic acid, is reacted with a 2-thiolhistidine of formula IV in the presence of a base, e.g. sodium bicarbonate or triethylamine, in water or an inert organic solvent, e.g. methanol, preferably at -20-+35 deg.C for 30min-40hr.</p> |
