PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize consumption of each color toner by selecting a different correction table based on discrimination result data of discriminating a black/ white image area and a color image area. SOLUTION: A high image quality processing section 301 applies image quality enhancing processing such as color correction processing or filtering processing to image data received sequentially for each color from a RAM 204 and gives the image data that are processed to a toner save processing section 302. The toner save processing section 302 applies mask processing to dots of the received image data or processes the density of the data so as to be entirely decreased. The image data processed by the toner save processing section 302 are fed to a selector 303. Upon the receipt of an instruction signal of toner save by the operator, the selector 303 selects and outputs data receiving toner save processing from an area discriminated to be a black/white area and data not receiving toner save processing from an area discriminated to be a color area based on black/white color image area discrimination data as a select signal. |
